Opening File Browser causes Chrome and Firefox to crash in Ubuntu 10.04
  • Steps to reproduce:
    1) Open page with uploadify tool (whether one of the examples on this site or on your own site)
    2) Click "Add File" button to open file browser
    3) Wait between 7 and 10 seconds. You can either do nothing or select files; it seems to make no difference to me
    4) Observe result.

    5) In Chrome, a dialog will appear, replacing the file browser, stating that the page has become unresponsive and offering choices to "Kill Page" or "Wait". Click "Wait".
    6) Refocus on the file browser and wait for another 7-10 seconds. Flash will entirely crash, leaving a black box in the place of the "Add File" button

    6) In Firefox, the web browser window will grey out behind the file browser. After about 7-10 seconds, the window will completely close on its own.

I am currently running Ubuntu 10.04LTS, Chrome 9.0.597.67 beta, and Firefox 3.6.13, both running Adobe Flash 10.1 r102. Also, it seems to make no difference which settings I use to initialize the uploadify object; I've tried many different configurations and all lead to the same result. If you like, I can go through my JavaScript logs and install a debug version of the Flash player if you would like me to gather more information using my setup.

    Any insight?
