New to uploadify and thought I'd try it with Django. Took a bit to figure it out, so thought I would post my results in case it helps anyone else.

In my javascript initialization:

Hi,

After getting the thing to work (there was typo in the link to the js file - doh!) I implemted this into a small internal project management system we use at work (users upload a file before adding a comment). Users can comment of projects and need to attach one or multiple files (or none obv.) to a comment. So when a user views a comment there will be a link to the file to download. Sounds simple, but yesterday I was at my wits end trying to get this script to work.

I'm aware it's not as advanced as some showcased here, but I thought my example may help others - as I imagine associating a file with a certain item is quite common. Also, until I read quite a few threads the below wasn't immediately obvious.

The scriptData is simply meant as an example here. In the production system the script data would be the comment ID that I would get and set via a database query, here i have simply set a static number.

Have amended the upload.php slightly to insert the file name, file extension, upload date and comment id into a table (I'm using a simple database class I wrote to mnimize the amount of code I written). To get the script data variables I used php's GET function as the script data is sent via the get method.

if you want to create more files (like thumb, or another sizes) its just repeat the code as many times as you want to...

note: just pay attention to the path, its relative to document root, so you may want to change for your images folder.

Hi, I uploaded files to 6MB with no problem, but I try to upload one of more than 10MB and if it happens that up to 100% and then displays this message: HTTP Error.

See the documentation and my provider told me that the maximum allowed for upload is 64MB, then you should not have trouble uploading more than 10MB.

Please help.

Uploadify doesn't report report back errors that occur in the upload script but it is possible to display what's happening. Here's a very basic php implementation

I have just started using uploadify and have been playing around with it for the past couple weeks. It is the perfect app for my web program, thanks for the great plugin. I thought I would share my addition to uploadify, now by no means I'm not a coder but I do enjoy learning. So I am sure there are improvements that can be made and be my guest but hopefully someone might find it useful or a starting point.

WHAT IT DOES:
-Previews pictures
-creates unique folder per visitor (this can be changed quite easily)
-works on multiple/single photo upload
-option to delete image and change order
-counts number of uploaded photos
-hides BROWSE & UPLOAD button once limit is reached
-Description Input
-Gets Filepath & name
-Does not overwrite files but adds unique number to beginning of file
-Checks for files with spaces and replaces them with underscore

That is about it for the single upload to work you will need the changes in uploadify.php and add the file delete_image.php and also the files need to be placed in a folder named 'plugin'.

Also a folder named 'upload' will need to be created. This is where the uploaded files go.

The single upload does not have a description area although one would be very easy to add

The multiple upload generates 2 input fields with the preview of the image. One is hidden and contains the filename which is called 'gallery_name[]'. The other is not hidden and is meant for the description which is named 'gallery_desc[]'. These can be accessed via php in an array.

Now I know there are a few things wrong and this might not work for everyone, but it should be a good starting point. If i did miss or mess anything up I apologize and will try to correct it, but as mentioned I just wanted to share.

Thumbnail creation is a common topic once an image is uploaded. Below is a basic script (added to upload.php) that can be used to create thumbnails and store them to another directory. With some slight modifications it could also be used to resize an image to specified parameters. - Requires "GD" library

Uploadify doesn't display errors that are generated due to server settings. If you are experiencing problems that could be due to server settings, try creating an error handler in your upload script and echo the result back. Then use onComplete to display the response.

These are the PHP.ini settings that typically need setting.
